BEACON TRAIN LIGHTNING EQUIPMENTS
FOR INDIAN RAILWAYS
(a.)
Brushless Alternators:
Beacon
Train Lighting Equipment consist of totally enclosed , 3
phase transom mounted Brushless Alternator and rectifier
Regulator unit for conventional and airconditioned coaches
to suit various climatic conditions of Indian Railways.
These are manufactured in compliance with R DSO Specification
for charging batteries and supplying lighting and fan loads.
Various
ratings are:
Salient
features:
Voltage regulation within +5% of set voltage irrespective
of speed and load current variation. Current limit protection
to limit alternator current within 120 % of rated current.
Three phase fullwave bridge connection by individual power
diode for rectification and prevention of battery discharging
through the alternator at standstill.
The
Alternator is driven from coach axle through V-Grooved pulleys
and V - belts and the devices rated for an output at a maximum
speed of 130 km/h.
(
b ) DC Compressor Motors:
Beacon
compressor motors are used for driving refrigeration compressors
for Railway coach air-conditioning .
These motors are totally enclosed fancooled suitable for
rugged service upto a maximum speed of 160 km/h in varying
climatic conditions prevailing in India . These are compound
wound DC Motor suitable for foot mounting and designed for
high starting torque required to drive compressor and work
satisfactorily between 110 V and 130 V DC. Speed regulation
is restricted to 8% over a range of 25% to full load . Minimum
efficiency at full load is 86% and can withstand to a substantial
over load of 10% for one hour. The various ratings :-

WINDING UNITS FOR ELEVATORS
( a ) Winding Units
of Various capacities are manufactured in Electrical Machines
Factory. The assembly unit consist of reduction gear assembly
, Electric driving motor and braking system The traction
sheave of variable dia - meter which is fitted depends on
the type of units which transmits the lift car upward or
downward .
The gear assembly consists of worm shaft and worm - wheel
in a oil tight housing . The gear is driven by means of
electric motor of various capacity depending on the type
of unit or number of passengers and speed of the car .
The braking system consist of electro magnetic coil assembly
and mechanical break-bow arrangement which prevents the
driving system from rotating thereby applying the brake
to the lifting car
.
The various type of models are as under :-
MR21 - For 20 passenger Lift with speed varying from 1m
/ sec . to 2m / sec . MR26 - For 25 passenger / goods Lift
speed Varying from 1m / sec . to 2.5m / sec.

b ) Lift duty Induction Motors :
Induction motors of high starting torque are manufactured
. These motors are double vacuum impregnated and suitable
for variable climatic conditions . These motors can withstand
4 nos: of start per minute.
